The Ideal Time to Travel to Jordan

Generally speaking, the best months to visit Jordan are March through May. The nights are cooler and it’s not as humid as it is in the summer.

It was hot, but not so, when we visited in June.

If you don’t mind the heat, summer (June–August) can be a wonderful time to come. Because it’s usually the least expensive period of the year.

Jeep Safari in the Desert

Our previous stop, Aqaba on the Red Sea, was approximately an hour’s drive from Wadi Rum. Although we were aware that we would be staying in the desert, we were unsure of the precise meaning at the moment.

When we first arrived, we were quite excited to learn. That we would be sleeping in tents in a traditional Bedouin camp. And enjoying a real Zarb dinner that had been prepared underground for hours.

Dawn Over the Camp of the Bedouin

We were prepared to jump out of a plane the following morning.

I forgot to say that, did I? On occasion, the Skydive Dubai crew will set up shop in Wadi Rum and let you jump from a plane over the surreal scenery.

We had to get to the drop zone by 5:30, and breakfast was at five. I was awake and ready to go by 4:55, as I usually am.

When five o’clock rolled around, nobody was awake except Mahmoud, who kindly made me some coffee.

Taking a Skydive Over Wadi Rum

The part that didn’t happen was one of the most exciting aspects of traveling to Jordan. The jump was originally planned for the date I needed to leave to return for a World Domination Summit conference. But due to its popularity, rescheduling was becoming challenging.

So we showed up there and hoped for the best, even though we were an hour late.

Fortunately, we were checked in immediately and were on our way to the desert. Or tarmac, for our 13,000-foot jump after only about 90 minutes of waiting.

Wadi Rum ATVs

After our jump, we wasted no time in finding our next burst of excitement.

There were some entertaining-looking ATVs parked next to the venue. And we had a good hour to kill before our footage was available after the jump.

Ten minutes after speaking with our host Reine, we were speeding over the desert. jumping dunes, and wondering how this day could be any more amazing.
